Your Life Story

There is a promise many of us make to ourselves, yet rarely keep―to sit down and write our life stories.

Instinctively we know it's important and valuable, yet we never do it.  After all, what would we give to have a full-
length account of the lives of  our fathers or mothers, or grandfathers or grandmothers?  A compelling book that
described the most significant episodes in their lives, their joys, opinions, reactions, sorrows, passions, and the
wisdom they all earned the hard way?  A book we could consult after our parents have gone.  A book that might
give us a deeper insight into who we are and where we are going. If a book like that would be of value to you,
consider how valuable your own life story would be to your children, and to theirs.

Now with recent advances in printing technology and the availability of professional writing help, producing a novel-
quality, perfectly-bound biography is within the means of most people.

A  journalist, author, novelist (see examples on this website), I now work to help families preserve the real stories
of the most important people in their lives.  Let me help you capture those stories―before those stories vanish.

Biography.  The term means "life story."  We all think we have one.  But do we?  Aside from ourselves, who knows
our whole story?  In fact, do we even remember the whole story ourselves?  Have we kept journals and diaries?
Have we told our families all about ourselves, really?  The lesson of history is that if something is not recorded, it
didn't happen.

The reality is that few of our parents will ever record our lives, and the consequence is that we end up with an
incomplete picture of their lives and by extension, an incomplete picture of our own lives.

But writing such a book is a daunting task.  Not all of us are writers or storytellers.  Many of us who attempt the
challenge are discouraged when we find that we've only created a boring timeline of catalogued milestones that
don't convey our lives at all.  We give up.

It doesn't have to be that way. Your real life story can be put into print and it can read like a novel. Literally.  A
professional writer can make it happen.  Not only that.  But with today's Print on Demand technology, your
biography can be published and printed to the best trade standards, perfectly bound, forever in print and at
virtually no cost.

Why should you―or your parents―start a personal biography?  The reasons are as varied as there are people.
For example, one might wish to:

•        Leave a legacy to one's children,
•        Set the record straight,
•        Share business or philosophical wisdom,
•        Assess one's own life.
•        Make sure no important things go unsaid.
•        Express sentiments that are hard to say otherwise.
•        Recover and rediscover meaningful and perhaps forgotten highlights of one's life.
•        All of the above.

Whatever result you seek from a biography, a professional writer can help you achieve it―helping you create a
story that people
will read.

FAQs

Are my responses confidential during the writing process?

Absolutely.

Can I keep my biography private?

You have complete control over who may read your biography and when.

Can I make my biography available to a large audience?

Easily. At the click of a button, and at no cost to you, your biography can be made available to a global audience,
if you wish.

How long can my biography be?

Any length you wish.

Can I update or revise my biography?

Of course, and at no additional charge. You have complete control. As your life progresses and you wish to make
additions or deletions, you can do so easily―and every subsequent edition will reflect those changes.

What is the process? How long does it take?

I work with clients one-to-one, face-to-face.  Unlike some popular online sites that offer distant email help and long
questionnaires, I sit down with my clients.  We talk.  We ramble. We establish a relationship and as we talk the
relevant, important tales emerge.  We strive to create a biography that will engage people, that people will want to
read, that people will read.  Your biography will not be a lifeless chronology of dates and labels; it will be
absorbing and enlightening.

T
he length of the process varies depending on the scope and depth desired by the client.  In general, it takes
from six to eight months.

How long will my biography remain in print?

Forever.  Print on Demand means there are no inventories to store or exhaust.  You will have your printed copies,
electronic files, Print on Demand account, and if you wish (at an additional charge, an ISBN number and two
copies stored with the Library of Congress).

Could my biography contain photos?

Yes.

How much does all this cost?

With Print on Demand there is no cost for initial print runs. You print as many or as few perfectly bound books as
you wish, each at a cost of approximately $12 each.  The professional charges for the creation of your
biography―including interviews, notes, transcriptions, organization, writing, editing, proofreading, text assembly,
interior design, cover design and Print on Demand setup―vary with the length of the project but range between
$15,000 and $30,000.

Isn't that a great deal of money?

Of course, but it also is a great deal.  In terms of lasting value, your biography is a legacy that is never exhausted,
and that gives your family insight and continuity for generations to come.
Biography Samples:

My clients' personal biographies are confidential and are distributed only by the client.  Accordingly, samples of
those biographies are never available.  However, to give you a sense of my writing, I have included a sample from
a profile of one individual that was done for a national publication.  Please
click here for the sample.  For other
samples, please view the heading titled "Other Writings."
